Pet Policies

Post your comments here about Pet Policies.

In response to Anonymous' question about why people ignore pet policies. I can not speak for those who do, because I choose only to rent from landlords who allow pets. I assume that for the most part, people who ignore pet policies, is simply due to the fact that it's very difficult to find pet friendly rentals in this city. I know how daunting a task it is to find a place to live when you have a pet. Most pet owners, are like me, in that their four legged friends are a part of their family, I would no more give up my dog in order to get a place to live, than a mother would give up her child. With that in mind, I can see why some people would choose to sneak a pet in, rather than give it up. I'm not endorsing this behaviour at all, I've been living in a dump with a complete jerk for a landlord for 4 years, for the simple fact that I know how hard it is to find pet friendly rentals in my city.

  1. I have allergies to cats and dogs. I recently rented a condo where it was advertised as no pets. After moving in, I realized that the previous renter had a pet contrary to the building rules.

My medications and bills to try and clean the place so that I can breathe are getting out of control. My landlord got the place steamed cleaned after I spoke to him. Which was generous.

My question is why do people ignore no pet policies?
